South Florida Business Association 2026 Holiday Schedule and Closure Dates

4 min read

Planning around closures is a lot easier when the dates are all in one place. The South Florida Business Association has several scheduled closures in 2026, including a run of Friday closures in October and November, a Thanksgiving break, a short December closure, and the annual holiday break that carries into January 2027.

The big thing to know up front is simple: during these closure periods, the office is closed for regular business. Some scheduled projects may still continue if they’ve already been arranged, but everyday office activity, general responses, and standard support will pause or slow down.

Full operations resume on Wednesday, January 13, 2027.

These dates are worth saving now, especially if you’re planning end-of-year work, event participation, renewals, project deadlines, or time-sensitive requests.

The Friday closures are easy to miss because they don’t happen in one long block. They’re spread across five consecutive Fridays:

  • October 16, 2026

  • October 23, 2026

  • October 30, 2026

  • November 6, 2026

  • November 13, 2026

For those dates, the office will be closed for regular business. If a project or activity has already been scheduled, it may still move forward as planned. For anything new or routine, it’s best to plan around the closure.

Friday closures begin in mid-October and continue through mid-November

The Friday closure schedule starts on October 16, 2026, and continues each Friday through November 13, 2026.

Here’s that Friday series again in a simple calendar-style view.

Closed Fridays

October 2026

October 16, October 23, October 30

November 2026

November 6, November 13

These Friday closures help create a staggered fall schedule leading into Thanksgiving break. Because they fall at the end of the workweek, they may affect requests sent late on Thursdays as well. If something needs attention before a closed Friday, try to send it earlier in the week.

For example, if you need a response before the October 23 closure, don’t wait until the afternoon of October 22. A little extra lead time will go a long way.

During each Friday closure:

  • The office is closed for regular business.

  • Routine requests may not receive a same-day response.

  • Scheduled projects may continue if previously arranged.

  • New requests will likely be handled after regular operations resume.

This is especially helpful to remember in late October, when three Friday closures happen back-to-back. If you’re working on something with moving parts, build in extra time for review, confirmation, or coordination.

The same goes for early November. The November 6 and November 13 closures come right before the Thanksgiving break period starts on November 20. That means the available regular-business days between mid-October, and late November are more limited than usual.

A good rule of thumb is to treat the fall schedule as a compressed calendar. Anything that needs several rounds of review should start earlier than you’d normally plan.

Thanksgiving break runs from November 20 to 29

The Thanksgiving closure begins on Friday, November 20, 2026, and runs through Sunday, November 29, 2026.

This is one of the major extended holiday closures on the calendar. The office will be closed for regular business throughout the Thanksgiving break, with the same exception for scheduled projects that have already been arranged.

A few items that may need earlier attention include:

  • Project check-ins

  • Event questions

  • Membership-related requests

  • Document submissions

  • Scheduling confirmations

  • Follow-ups that need approval

The office is expected to return from the Thanksgiving break after November 29, before the short December closure later that week.

The Annual Holiday break begins December 14

The annual holiday break begins on Monday, December 14, 2026, and continues through Tuesday, January 12, 2027.

During the annual holiday break:

  • The office is closed for regular business.

  • Routine messages and requests may not be handled until operations resume.

  • Scheduled projects may continue if they were confirmed in advance.

  • New requests should be planned for after the break whenever possible.

Because this break starts on December 14, the window for regular business in December is limited. The first half of the month already includes the December 3 to 4 closures, and then the annual break starts the following week.

That makes early December the best time to wrap up anything that can’t wait until mid-January.

If you’re looking at year-end tasks, aim to handle them before the annual break begins. This could include sending final materials, checking on deadlines, confirming next steps, or asking questions that need an answer before the new year.

Regular operations resume on Wednesday, January 13, 2027.

That’s the date to use when planning anything that can wait until after the holidays. If you send a routine request during the annual break, expect it to be handled after operations restart.

To make the transition smoother, keep messages clear and complete. If you’re sending something during a closure period for later review, include the basics in one place:

  • What you’re asking for

  • Any deadline tied to the request

  • Relevant names, dates, or project details

  • Attachments or links that are needed

  • The best follow-up contact information
